HAEUSLER Crocodile Assembling and Tack Welding Machine

The Crocodile or Clamp type machines can be descried as mobile work centres, which can be moved in or out of a shell for assembly work as required. 

The purpose of the Crocodile and Clamp is the multi-directional alignment of shells for tack welding and for welding parts together.

Application Example: Serial production of wind turbine towers

Level I
Assembly of 8 shells with 

  • Diameter range from 2640 to 3117 mm (conical)
  • Wall thickness of 12 to 14 mm
  • Individual shell length 3 m
  • Length of assembled section 24 m

Total assembly time: 2 hours + 50 minutes

Section II

Assembly of 7 shells with 

  • Diameter range from 3278 to 3669 mm (conical)
  • Wall thickness of 14 to 16 mm
  • Individual shell length 3 m 
  • Length of assembled section 21 m

Total assembly time: 2 hours + 45 minutes

Section III

Assembly of 7 shells with 

  • Diameter range of 3828 to 4219 mm (conical) 
  • Wall thickness of 16 to 22 mm 
  • Individual shell length 3 m 
  • Length of assembled section 21 m

Total production time: 3 hours
